LAS VEGAS – After an overwhelming response from audiences and critics alike, BASE Entertainment is proud to announce that Wayne Brady is now a permanent headliner at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino, extending his show Making It Up through mid-2008.
“We couldn't be happier to welcome Wayne Brady to our family for the next year. He is a great addition to our already wonderful line up of Phantom, Blue Man Group, Gordie Brown and soon to come Jersey Boys at The Palazzo,” said President and Chief Operating Officer of The Venetian, Robert Goldstein.
Originally scheduled for a limited engagement, Making It Up developed a solid fan base during its initial run and the new agreement, providing for a minimum of 130 performances over the next year, will catapult Brady from one of many visiting entertainers to a Las Vegas Strip resident.
“I am thrilled to call The Venetian my permanent Las Vegas home,” said Brady. “Performing on The Strip in this show gives me the unique opportunity to showcase everything I love to do on stage.”
Best known for his hilarious improvisational skills, Making It Up showcases Brady doing just that and critics are raving. Heralded as “pure genius,” “hysterically funny” and “amazing,” Brady’s show is a guaranteed hit. Proving that he is one of the most versatile men in show business, Brady structures his show in the classic Variety show style, incorporating improv, singing and even dancing. In true Vegas style, Making It Up brings big production values to the stage including a three-piece band led by musical director Cat Gray, and a chorus of talented dancers.
“There is so much more to Wayne than what you expect,” said co-CEO of BASE Entertainment and presenter of Making It Up, Scott Zeiger. “He is a multi-talented performer which is perfect for Vegas audiences. In this show, you will see Wayne do what he does best – make it up, and then some!”
Brady is well known for his hilarious improvised antics, unique musical talents and limitless impersonation skills as showcased on the hit show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” and the syndicated talk show “The Wayne Brady Show.” Coming this summer, Wayne can also be seen as host of the new game show “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!” on FOX.
Tickets are on sale now for the first five weeks of Brady’s residency. He can be seen beginning the weekend of August 4 – 6 at 9 p.m. and every Thursday – Monday from August 9 – September 3 at 9:00 p.m. in The Venetian Showroom.
